This economical electric bike conversion kit system is for riders on a budget that require the increased durability of a direct-drive motor for heavier loads. The direct-drive hub motor used in this conversion kit system is for heavier applications and a MUST for any total load (bike+rider+cargo) of 300lbs or more. This system pairs the heavy-duty motor with a 48v battery pack for increased torque and a 20MPH top speed.
Direct-drive motors are strong, durable and long-lasting due to zero internal friction. Some lower quality or larger direct-drive motors have resistance, but that should not be a concern with this E-BikeKit direct-drive hub motor.
Sealed Lead-Acid (often referred to as "SLA") batteries provide a reliable battery option at a low price point. SLA battery packs are the most affordable option but they are also the heaviest option. Lead-Acid batteries have a much lower weight to power ratio than lithium-based batteries and far less the number of charge cycles (how many times a rechargeable battery can be charged from 0-100%). The performance of lead-acid is low; as the pack is spent, the performance is lessened. The lead-acid battery costs less initially, but over time, the "cost-per-cycle" is almost double the cost of li-ion. SLA packs should be charged immediately after each use.

Choosing Your Wheel Size: You can find your wheel size written on your tire. Available size options for this conversion kit are: 20", 24", 26", 700c & 29er. Acceptable tire widths for the E-BikeKit rims: 1.15"(29mm) - 2.25"(57mm).
Front vs. Rear Wheel: We recommend rears for most conversions.
A common misconception is that front wheel conversions are easier.
It is our professional opinion that there are two legitimate reasons to use a front wheel hub motor:
1) You want true two-wheeled drive
2) You have an internal rear hub shifter
If neither applies to your conversion, a rear wheel conversion is likely a better choice.
